Just Follow the Energy

Posted by brenda mcdermott on

Sometimes I ask myself where am I going and why am I doing what I do? I’m sure we all have asked these questions at some time. I met with a wonderful woman recently, and as we were just chatting away this topic came up. She told me that a great mentor of hers told her to “Just follow the energy.” Wow, those were powerful words that I will not forget. So simple, right? Just follow the energy.

So, not long after that a series of what I will call “opportunities” presented themselves to me--I got the chance to follow the energy, and here is the first story about where it took me. (More stories will follow.)

Someone came to me requesting a piece of jewelry for a friend of hers that had just lost her husband--a very unexpected and sudden event. She was left with two small children in addition to her grief and confusion. My client told me that so many people were bringing food, helping with this or that, taking care of the kids, etc., but since all the day-to-day needs were covered, she wanted to contribute in some other way. So she decided to buy her a piece of jewelry to help support her at this stressful time in her life. I thought it was a brilliant idea!

I recalled a bracelet I had in stock and told her that I had the perfect item for her to give.  I often combine several stones together in a piece I design so that in addition to looking unique and gorgeous, it also has many healing properties.  The chosen bracelet actually contained stones that I knew would support her through her emotional stress.  They would bring comfort, give her grounding energy, increase concentration (to interact with her children and handle business affairs,) dispel confusion, and very importantly shed light and clarity.  The final detail of a heart charm just completed the circle perfectly.

After she received it, I was told that from the moment it was given to her she has not taken it off and wore it at the funeral. The friend that bought this bracelet gave her the very best gift!

To provide you with a list of the stones that I used for this particular bracelet, I'm listing them by name along with their meanings and intentions:

Aventurine, brings comfort and balance and calms emotional stress. A good stone for those who find it difficult to open their hearts. Aventurine helps clear negativity, encourage harmony and a renewed zest for life.

Black Onyx. has very strong grounding properties as well as the banishment of negative energies from the environment. Onyx balances, grounds and absorbs negativity while letting through positive vibrations. It increases concentration, stimulates thinking and logic and encourages better decision making.

Pyrite, chases away confusion, sheds light and clarifies mental processes. It allows us to take life in our hands and be active in the world. Encourages decision making and taking action..
